Fighting Illini Rip Texas A&M

College Station, TX - 

After a long trip to College Station, Texas, the Fighting Illini (4-0) took the field against the Texas A&M Aggies (6-7).   Wasting no time, the Illini leapt out to an early lead on goals by Stephen Black, Dan Dickson, and Nate Prescott.   The offensive firepower didn’t stop there, however, as 11 different Illini players scored in the blowout.

 

Goals in the second quarter by J.J. Sestrich, Doug Sutherland, Joe O’Malley, and Scott Pfiffner helped the Illini go into halftime leading 9-2.   After a brief halftime break, they once again came out firing with goals by Defensemen Phil Dodson, Chris Fallon, and Midfielder Paul Dworzanski.   The Illini dominated ground balls and time of possession in order to take control of the contest.

 

The Fighting Illini however also played excellent team defense with Phil Dodson, Mike Howlett, Alex Burt, Neal Sullivan, Chris Holmes, Matt Gruber, and Jeremias Perez all contributing.   Strong play between the pipes by goalies Eric Rakoczy, Joe Lucido, and Curt Peterson also aided the Fighting Illini’s win.

 

Next up for the Fighting Illini will be a trip to take on the #19 University of Texas Longhorns in Austin, TX.
