Lindenwood Ends Illini Season
Updated:  05/03/2009 at 11:54 PM
St. Louis, MO - Nobody likes losing, especially to the same team in one year.  Unfortunately for the Illini, they were stopped just short of a GRLC Championship with a 12-8 loss to the Lindenwood University Lions.  The loss marked the second loss on the year to the Lions.

The Illini finished the year 11-5 overall and 5-1 in regular season conference play.

Despite opening up the game on a tear and taking a 4-1 lead, the Lions came storming back and the Illini fell to the Lions in a hard fought game.  Unfortunately, great college careers came to an end for Steve Arendt, Matt Babcock, Stephen Black, Phil Dodson, Paul Dworzanski, Chris Fallon, Joe O'Malley, Nate Prescott, J.J. Sestrich, Neal Sullivan, Ricky Valencia and Doug Sutherland.  The team would like to thank them for their hard work and dedication during their careers and wish them best of luck in the future.

The Illini will return a strong core of players for the 2010 campaign and look to improve off the field for another run next year.  Thanks to all the fans, donors, coaches, players, parents, school administration, staff and volunteers for their hard work on the year.
